Like its predecessor, DreadOut 2 is not a perfect game. The game offers minor collectibles and optional quests that you can take. On a side note, exploring the city is worth doing, especially if you are a completionist. Although there is nothing much going on, unlike in the city, the entire game has a rock-solid presentation and atmosphere. The developers pulled out all the stops in creating a great environmental design.Įven some of the game's dungeon-like areas-such as the mansion cellar or the abandoned hotel-comes with a great graphic design. The game is thoroughly pleasant to look at, from the lively shop-laden streets to sleepy little villages and the misty mountains. In this aspect, the game's design truly shines. In addition to ghost and zombie-hunting, DreadOut 2 lets you occasionally roam the city before you set out to a new location. It employs more hack-n-slash gameplay with its gory simplicity.

But, despite its honest attempt to become a true horror game, DreadOut 2 isn't spooky. The other one is fighting supernatural entities using melee weapons, usually an ax. The first one is to banish ghosts by snapping pictures of them using Linda's phone. There are two types of missions in the game. Luckily, DreadOut 2 managed to counterbalance its poorly-written storyline with an enjoyable mix of action and adventure.

The game-descriptive text and dialogues-is riddled with jarring grammatical errors and poorly-worded sentences, effectively robbing the story and character any sort of potential charm. While the plot is serviceable enough, the quality of the writing is subpar. Children, people disappeared into the city, dug graves. However, prepare to be frustrated as storytelling isn't the strongest suit of this game. Along the way you will find notes that will reveal the mystery of what happened in this abandoned place. You have a choice of a dress, a school uniform, a provocative outfit, ripped jeans and a soccer jersey. The heroine can be dressed in different outfits. The monsters themselves are based on Indonesian folklore characters. The success of the passage depends on the player’s perception of sound. The sound alerts you to dangerous places and puts psychological pressure on the hero. By photographing ghosts, you damage them. Unlike other horror games, here you can influence enemies and influence them with the camera. Enemies are divided into classes and types: giant boars with human faces, banshees, ghosts, cats, and pregnant dead women. As you walk through the gloomy side streets, you can use your mobile phone’s camera and flashlight. In the main role, you have to play Linda as an ordinary Japanese schoolgirl.

Means of communication do not work and you have to seek help from local residents.

A group of students, led by a teacher, deviate from the study trip’s intended path. The plot is based on the mythology of Japanese horror and curses.
